Why Practice Somatic Therapy?

July Vibes

July greetings dear friends,

I blinked and June was in the rearview. There once was a time I felt summer vibes. A more relaxed state with a slower pace even if I was not on vacation. It was a shift in the air, the climate and my mood. Do you experience that summer vibe? Maybe you own a boat and can get away from shore where life can be overwhelming.

Recently many clients visiting me feel generally out of sorts with a lower than desired vibe. Sometimes we know the cause and often we have to dig for that root. I felt this recently and set about shifting it the best way I know how. Movement! I'm elevating that vibe for myself and others with the use of somatic therapy, a prime facet of my neurosomatic work that I shared in June. Our brain tools and body work tools collaborate for optimal results.

Why somatic therapy? I find it easy for anyone's body; the results are fast and effective. It weaves perfectly into other modalities and conventional medicine without interference. In over forty years of studying alternative healing, it truly is a powerhouse tool for releasing stuck energy and repressed emotions.

I think it's valuable to self-audit what is working and not working as it pertains to routines and self-healing or nervous system regulation practices. I evaluate the brain based and body work tools I'm using at least one time per month and switch things up based on what outputs (symptoms or sensations) I'm experiencing.

Somatic practices are a highly researched effective modality for releasing emotions, stress, toxins and disease in the body. Through specific types of movement, we target emotions and symptoms that need to be released from the places in our body where they are stored.

We all store negative emotions in our bodies. If they compile and cause imbalances, then we are vulnerable to conditions and diseases. We have to feel it to heal it as the saying goes. We must avoid suppressing our emotions. Sooner or later, they show themselves. This is especially true of grief. Does this resonate with you?

Today I am so self-aware, I know when to shift the vibe and not allow the emotion to settle into a vulnerable part of my body. You can experience this release too if you are willing to look within and practice the tools.

The link below is a wonderful article in "Spirit of Change" magazine for those interested in learning more about the many ways movement or somatic therapy supports your nervous system regulation for overall wellbeing.

I'll leave you with another new "Self-Audit"

Please ask yourself, "What would I like to release from my mind or body that feels stuck and holds me back from feeling peace and comfort?"

If talking about the feeling, situation or event has not fully released it; "Where do you feel it in your body, and are you ready to release it?"

My practice is about empowerment. No one should feel dependent on practitioners; we are a supplement to your body's ability to heal itself. You just need the tools and proper support to set you up for successful self-guided healing.

Please reach out if you'd like to explore working together or share with a loved one in need of support.

With grace and gratitude, till we meet again.
